A Family Farm,
Opened Up
Amal Farms started as exactly what the name says - a farm. The farm stay part came later, organically, almost by accident.
The Story
Amal Farms is a 3.5-acre coconut farm on the outskirts of Hosur, about an hour from Bangalore. It started as exactly that - a coconut farm. Just trees, red soil, and the occasional weekend visit to check on the well.
Then we built a farmhouse, because the family wanted a weekend place outside the city. And we used it - constantly. Every long weekend, every school break, every excuse we could find. Over time, we started growing fruits and vegetables, experimenting with what the soil would take. We even tried our hand at cattle, chickens, and goats. Learned a lot. Eventually decided that wasn't for us and moved on.
Then Mom had an idea: "Why don't we let other people enjoy this place too?" She saw what we had and imagined it as a farm stay. So we renovated the farmhouse, added a pool, a trampoline, a playground, BBQ setup, an event hall - everything that makes it fun.
We're honest about what we are: a family-run farm stay, not a resort. There's no front desk, no room service, no star rating. What there is: a clean, comfortable farmhouse on private grounds, a pool, a hall that fits 100 people, and a family that takes this personally.
The coconut grove is still a coconut grove. The farm is still a farm. We just opened the gates.
The People Behind the Farm
Mom
The Heart
Manages the day-to-day - from coordinating bookings to making sure the farmhouse is spotless before every guest. If you call or WhatsApp, she's probably the first voice you'll hear.
Dad
The Builder
The one who built it all - the farmhouse, the pool, the hall. Still the first person to spot something that needs fixing and the last to leave the property.
The Caretaker
The Backbone
Lives on the property and keeps everything running - the grounds, the pool, the coconut trees. Has been with the farm longer than most of us remember.
How We Got Here
Started as a coconut farm
Just coconut trees, red soil, and weekends spent getting the well fixed.
Built the farmhouse
A weekend retreat for the family. We used it constantly - every long weekend, every school break, every excuse we could find.
Started growing things
Fruits, vegetables, experiments with what the soil would take. The farm started feeling like more than just coconuts.
The livestock phase
Cattle, chickens, goats - we tried it all. Learned a lot. Eventually decided farming animals wasn't for us and sold them off.
Mom had an idea
"Why don't we let other people enjoy this place too?" She saw what we had and imagined it as a farm stay.
The renovation
We redid the farmhouse, added a pool, a trampoline, a playground, BBQ setup, an event hall - everything that makes it fun.
